COME AND HELP US CHOOSE AN ARTIST!!
COME AND MEET OUR SHORTLIST ON SATURDAY 19 APRIL!
We had a fantastic response to our advertisement for an artist to work with the community of Driffield in creating an artwork for the town. The steering group have shortlisted four artists who are all heading to Driffield to meet the public and talk about their approach to our project. It's quite an exciting time and the local press have picked up on the event..!

The 19th April is the first of this year's Sensational Saturday markets which were such a success last year - bringing the best of locally sourced and crafted produce into the centre of Driffield. It was at these events that Rebecca first started talking to the public about this project and we are delighted to be back, this time with four fantastic artists!
The artists will be on their stalls at the market from 10-12, then they will have a short break for some lunch and a walk around Driffield. They will be back on the stalls 1pm-2pm. Please do spread the word and come and meet them. They want to know more about what we want for our town - so now is our chance to tell them!

Way of the Roses ‘Passing Places’ Project Public Art opportunity for Driffield
Driffield is the latest site to be chosen for this
exciting public art project as part of the Way of the Roses cycle trail. The
project as a whole currently includes terminus artworks at Morecambe and
Bridlington and Passing Places artworks at Stamford Bridge, Pateley Bridge and
High Bentham and is designed by Lead Artist Matt Baker as a moving history to
accompany the traveller along the way. The art works will be designed to reflect
the local communities in which they are sited, whilst marking traditional
movements of people, historical events or phenomena. www.wayofrosespublicart.org.uk
The Driffield Steering Group, along with Rebecca
Jenkins, Animateur for Driffield Passing Places, are seeking submissions from
artists interested in the role of Lead Artist for the Driffield site. The
Driffield Passing Place has been developed in partnership with Driffield Town
Council. Driffield has an active Renaissance Partnership, which works together
to deliver the aspiration of making Driffield “a great place to work, live and
invest in” and there is the potential that, as well as proposals being realised
as part of the Passing Places project, they be built into the development and
delivery of the Driffield Renaissance Partnership’s regeneration plan.
This opportunity is for Stage 1 of the project, constituting
a period of engagement with the local community through events and workshops in
order to develop concepts, reviewing of potential locations and producing any agreed
final designs ready for installation.
Stage 2 of the project will constitute the realisation of the artwork,
and is subject to budgetary provision being confirmed.
Artists may suggest any art form or combination of
art forms which meets the requirements of the brief – these might include but
are not exclusive to the visual arts, digital media or performance.
The
timescale of Stage 1 of this project is April–Sep 2014.
Fee
£3,500
